Shifting from Reporting Families to Supporting Families

California MRCS Task Force · 60-page report · September 2024

A 60-page report for California’s Mandated Reporting to Community Supporting (MRCS) Task Force, September 2024, supported by Casey Family Programs and Safe & Sound. Design, layout, data visualization, and production; content by the Task Force and its Lived Experience Group.

A report that had to move a state: recommendations to transform California’s mandated reporting system, written for legislators, county agencies, and families with lived experience at once. The system pairs a fear-based-to-trust-based framing device with racial-disparity charts, a five-part strategic-priority sequence, and testimony from task-force members set at the scale it deserves.
